Room 26.10.12
Working on an assignment for Fedasil (Belgian federal agency for the reception of asylum seekers), Isabelle met a young Serbian family, Shaban, Hairia and their four children. They were awaiting their residence permits when Isabelle met them. Especially Hairia intrigued as a person. She seemed both so strong and confident and yet so fragile and naïve. Isabelle felt drawn to them and started visiting them regularly. This resulted in an impressive story on their lives in this 12 square meter room where they squandered most of the time, worrying about their future.
The series received the 2nd prize in the Dexia Press Award in Belgium.
